La Mujer Obrera

The Heritage Foodways program of La Mujer Obrera (LMO) works with residents of a neighborhood of El Paso, Texas, called Chamizal to gather knowledge about traditional farming, cooking, and natural resource stewardship that local culture bearers have safeguarded for years. LMO staff gathers and documents this knowledge via community focus groups and participatory activities at open-air markets (tianguis) and shares it with the community using visual and performance arts.
