Kōkua Kahili Valley Comprehensive Family Services (KKV)

Grounded in traditional Hawaiian values, KKV’s Roots Program helps Kōkua Kahili Valley residents learn about mālama ʻāina (caring for the land), growing heritage seeds, cultural cooking, and food preservation as basic health skills. Working mostly with urban residents in a landscape of Oahu that stretches from the mountains to the sea, KKV Roots teaches farming and gardening practices linked to the Hawaiian lunar calendar that designates cultivation priorities, guides plant production, and connects planting to the akua (gods).
